I've been very bad about blogging lately. Well, I haven't been slacking or anything, but it's just been so crazy that there has been no way to get coherent thoughts on the page. This week though is mini-term. What is mini-term you ask? Mini-term happens the week after finals and is meant to allow kids to focus on different learning experiences than what they see/do during the regular year. Some examples of classes being offered are Cooking, quilting, and crafts, Bike St. Louis, Hiking and camping, Mini Med School, etc.
As a new person, I was asked to join an existing course: The Competitive Edge. What happens in this class? Well, the lead teacher lectures for about 2 hours a day. He also assigns homework and gets very upset when kids don't take detailed notes. Say what?! I thought this was supposed to be fun! I feel so bad for these kids. I mean, they are all athletes, so I suspect they will learn some useful skills to take with them. At the same time, I don't blame them for being jealous of their friends who are actually having a good time during this week.
Because of this structure though, I should have plenty of blog time. Maybe even twice a day! Look at me looking on the bright side. :)

When is their last day of school? I would like to take the bike or cooking class (one extreme to the other, huh?) Do you get to come up with your own class next year?
