Random Musing

After high school, I worked at Burger King. I was a manager,and the pay was pretty good for that point in my life. After college, I waited tables at Bennigan's. Again, not exactly upscale, but I made good money.

Well, I took some time off after grad school and before I started teaching. I looked for jobs waiting tables, and my first criterion was that I refused to wear a name tag.

Why was I thinking about this today? Well, the school I'm teaching at now requires all adults to wear a nametag. So basically I have totally backslid in my job requirements. Ironic I think. Happy Monday!

What a releif

I can love fall again! Remember how I said I wished I could gracefully decrease amount I worked at the barn? Well, it happened? The barn owner decided that she really needed someone who could work full time (duh,) and that I had too many things going at once. I'll still be a sub and my status at the barn is still in good shape. What a relief!

In other news, I LOVE college football! This year I get to watch again since I won't be working at the barn all the time.

Today's a good day.

So much yet nothing

• Mom and dad were here. That was fun. Mom and I went shopping and had a blast. I'm down a pant size! Woohoo! Also, The Limited is my new favorite store. Between their educator discount and sweet sales, I'm really not paying more than I do at Target.

• Saw Star Trek. Totally fun summer movie. My friend and I are going to see Harry Potter next week. I'm such a dork. Wanna come?

• My horse was Reserve Champion at the horse show last weekend. Go Lucas!

• Everyone has been posting nursery inspirations. I'm getting my photos together so I can share too. My ideas aren't as concrete as some, but they are there. Hopefully I'll post soon. :)

• PD at school tomorrow. It looks to be interesting, but I have a hard time sitting still for that long.

• Everyone I know is pregnant. That is totally adding to my baby fever.

• I'm enjoying So You Think You Can Dance. I've never watched it before but, despite a ridiculous judge, it is enjoyable. The dancing is really fun.

My friend is going on a job interview today. She was a stay at home mom, but her husband lost his job over a year ago. He hasn't been able to find anything, so she's been working part-time for crap pay for the past ten months or so. She has an interview at a hospital where she can get benefits for her family, and they will help her go back to school. She wants to get an extra degree so that if something like this happens again, she is better able to help her family.

So, if you're reading this, please think good thoughts for my friend. She is super loyal, smart, and works very hard. I really want her to get this job so she can feel better about her situation with her family and her life.
